Free Bonus Chapters and Deleted Scenes: How Follower Bonus Content Works on LitRPGTools
September 2, 2026
Every LitRPG reader knows the specific ache of finishing a series and wanting fifteen more minutes inside it. A scene that got cut. The stat sheet the author built for a character who barely got screen time. The narrator flubbing a skill name in the booth. For years that material lived in Patreon tiers, newsletter attachments, and Discord channels you had to already know about.
LitRPGTools.com has given it an address. Follower Bonus Content is a free library of creator extras where the only thing standing between you and the full post is a follow button. It’s a genuinely different model from the paywalled-extras norm, and it’s worth understanding exactly what it is — and what it deliberately isn’t — before you go looking.
What Follower Bonus Content actually is
Follower Bonus Content is a searchable library of free, safe-for-work extras published by authors, narrators, and other verified creators. A reader who currently follows the creator can read the whole post and download its files. Everyone else sees the discovery layer: title, teaser, cover, tags, related book or series, and a Follow to read button.
The categories tell you what to expect. As of this writing the library filters by bonus chapters, short stories, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes posts, interviews, transcripts, essays, and announcements, in text, single-image, gallery, comic, audio, and mixed formats. The platform’s own description of eligible material runs to sample chapters, downloadable art and wallpapers, image carousels, page-ordered comics, narrated clips, outtakes, and off-site reading links.
You’ll find it under Discover → Bonus Content, with the default sort set to latest releases.
The part that matters: following is the whole price
This is the editorial point I’d underline. The platform has built the entitlement so that following — and only following — opens a post. Not a Patreon tier. Not a purchase. Not a reward code or a card collection or a paid creator plan. The rules go further and forbid creators from using any of those as a gate.
Consider what that does for a reader. The extras stop being a loyalty program you buy into per author and become part of the ordinary act of keeping up with someone whose work you like. Follow twelve authors, and your personal library fills with whatever those twelve post, sorted newest first, with optional notifications you control.
And it is honest in the other direction, too. Unfollow, and the full post locks again on your next visit. Nothing is quietly retained. The relationship is the key, and the key works both ways.
What you will not find, and why
The library is SFW only, with what the platform calls zero tolerance. Creators sign a versioned attestation before publishing; uploads sit in private quarantine until an automated safety screen clears them; an NSFW upload can get a creator permanently banned. For a genre whose readers are used to anything goes in Discord, that boundary is worth knowing going in. This is the extras shelf, not the back room.
You also won’t find complete books. The rules exclude full-book and full-audiobook reproduction outright, and authors are specifically cautioned that anything enrolled in KDP Select has to stay exclusive to Kindle — so don’t expect a novel to appear in installments. A sample chapter where the contract allows it, yes. The book, no.
Finally, temper expectations on volume. This is a young library. The mechanism is live and the filters are well designed, but the shelves fill only as fast as authors decide to use them.
How to use it well
- Follow the authors and narrators you already read. Their library entries appear in your signed-in view automatically.
- Browse Discover with the content-type filter. Deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes posts are the best signal for what an author is like to follow.
- Turn on notifications selectively. Bonus Content alerts are opt-in per follow, so you only hear from creators you chose.
- Check the related-book field. Extras attach to specific titles or series, which makes it easy to read a deleted scene in context rather than cold.
If you’re the kind of reader who tracks completed LitRPG series specifically so you can binge them, this is the natural next layer: the material that didn’t fit inside the books.
The verdict
Follower Bonus Content takes a category of material that has been fragmented, gated, and hard to find, and puts it behind the cheapest possible lock. The SFW rule and the no-full-books rule keep it honest with retailers and readers alike. What it needs now is exactly what a library always needs: creators using it.
The library is open at litrpgtools.com/bonus-content. Follow someone you’d read a deleted scene from, and see what they’ve left on the shelf.
Common questions
- What is Follower Bonus Content on LitRPGTools?
- Follower Bonus Content is a free library of extras published by authors, narrators, and other verified creators — bonus chapters, deleted scenes, short stories, behind-the-scenes posts, interviews, art, comics, and audio outtakes. You follow a creator to read their full posts. No payment, membership, or Patreon connection is involved.
- Do I have to pay to read bonus content?
- No. Following the creator is the only requirement, and following is free. The platform explicitly rules out paid tiers, purchases, and Patreon links as ways to unlock a post.
- What happens if I unfollow an author?
- The full post locks again on your next visit. You can still see the title, teaser, cover, and tags in the public Discover library — just not the body or any downloadable files.
- Is bonus content safe for work?
- Yes, and strictly so. Every post has to be SFW, creators attest to that before publishing, and uploads pass an automated screen before they go live. NSFW uploads can result in a permanent ban for the creator.
- Can I get whole books for free through bonus content?
- No. Complete books and audiobooks are out of scope, and authors are warned not to repost anything enrolled in KDP Select. Think extras, not editions.
